J.T. Sweeney Fine Art

I’m J.T. Sweeney, a self-taught artist living and working in southeastern North Carolina.  Art has been my passion and my zen for as long as I can remember: my earliest memories are of lying on the living room floor, drawing pictures of Batman and Robin with crayons.  I’ve been on that journey ever since, still finding the joy and excitement (and a little bit of terror) in the potential of a blank page or canvas.

Working in a range of media, I produce seascapes, wildlife imagery, and still lifes… and, really, any scenes that strike a chord in me. I’m fascinated by the technical challenges of reproducing a three-dimensional world in two dimensions. More importantly, I want to create images that resonate emotionally with viewers across time and space.
